Stephen Sommers

Stephen Sommers AttorneyStephen Sommers is a seasoned employment attorney with over 20 years of litigation experience and a lifetime commitment to workplace justice. Before becoming a lawyer, Stephen served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Chad and spent nearly a decade as a union and community organizer, empowering low-wage workers across the South and negotiating collective bargaining agreements worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

After graduating from Northeastern University School of Law, Stephen dedicated his career to representing mistreated workers — individuals who have faced discrimination, retaliation, harassment, or other unlawful treatment on the job. He advocates for both single plaintiffs and employee groups in class and representative actions, with a strong focus on wage and hour violations, off-the-clock work, and missed break claims. His practice is rooted in the belief that all workers deserve fair treatment, respect, and accountability from their employers.

Stephen holds a dual B.A. in political science and philosophy from East Carolina University. He has been recognized multiple times by Super Lawyers as both a Rising Star and a top-rated employment litigator, and has held leadership roles in several plaintiffs’-side litigation firms throughout California.
