​​​​​​​​On May 1, 2025, 301 Scrubs Investors, LLC d/b/a Scrubs & Beyond LLC d/b/a Kindthread (“Kindthread”), reported a significant cybersecurity incident to the California Attorney General’s Office. The incident, which occurred between June 6 and June 9, 2024, involved unauthorized access to the company’s computer network (the “Data Breach”). Upon discovering the Data Breach on June 7, 2024, the company immediately engaged third-party forensic specialists to investigate. On April 16, 2025, Kindthread confirmed that certain sensitive personal information had been compromised during the Data Breach. 

Recently, Kindthread began sending data breach notification letters to individuals affected by the Data Breach. Each letter includes a complimentary membership to credit monitoring and identity protection services. As of now, the company has not disclosed any further information about the Data Breach. If you received a data breach notification letter from Kindthread, it indicates that your information was affected by the Data Breach.

Headquartered in Delaware, 301 Scrubs Investors, LLC operates under the names Scrubs & Beyond LLC and Kindthread, specializing in apparel for caregivers and healthcare professionals. The company’s portfolio includes well-known brands such as Landau, White Cross, Chefwear, and the omnichannel retailer Scrubs & Beyond. Kindthread generates an estimated annual revenue of around $300 million. 

WHAT INFORMATION IS INVOLVED IN THE SCRUBS & BEYOND LLC (d/b/a KINDTHREAD) DATA BREACH?

The types of information compromised vary by individual but may include the following: 

  • Full name,
  • Date of birth, 
  • Social Security number, 
  • Driver’s license number, 
  • Financial account information, 
  • Passport number, 
  • Medical information, 
  • Health insurance information, 
  • and/or account username and password. 

This information is called your Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”). It tells others about you and is considered part of your identity. Businesses are required to secure this information or risk facing statutory penalties, among other legal penalties. Stolen PII can be used by identity thieves to engage in fraudulent activity using your identity. 

Personal medical information (a specific type of PII) is referred to as Protected Health Information (“PHI”). It is protected under both state and federal law. Healthcare providers and other businesses who handle PHI are required to protect that information. Like stolen PII, stolen PHI can be used by identity thieves to engage in fraudulent activity using your identity. Quite often, PII and PHI are used in conjunction by hackers.

The best way to protect yourself after a data breach is to sign up for credit and identity protection services as soon as possible. 

California offers extra protections and legal rights to its residents through the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”).
