On or about July 22, 2024, A-Line Staffing Solutions, LLC (“A-Line”) sent a Notice of Data Breach Letter (“Breach Letter”) via mail to victims of the A-Line data breach informing them that their personal information and Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) was obtained by a ransomware group who accessed A-Line’s network (“data breach”).
After A-Line became aware of the potential unauthorized access to its network, it launched an investigation. While the investigation is still ongoing, A-Line has determined that the unauthorized users accessed and acquired files from its network. As a result of the data breach, hackers obtained from victims their first and last names and social security numbers.
Originally founded in 2004, A-Line is a staffing company that supplies professionals to the healthcare, insurance, pharmaceutical, and information technology industries. Based in Utica, Michigan, A-Line maintains offices in Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. The company employs more than 500 individuals and has annual revenues near $100 million.
As A-Line is still in the process of sending letters to affected individuals, specific numbers are not yet known, however, the Texas Attorney General has confirmed that 6,243 Texans have been impacted by the breach. As A-Line operates throughout the United States, it’s likely that the total number of Americans impacted by the breach could be significantly higher. If you received a Breach Letter from A-Line, then you were impacted by the data breach.
A-Line has not offered any credit monitoring or identity theft protection thus far to victims of the breach.
According to A-Line, the following information was exposed:
This information is called your Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”). It tells others about you and is considered part of your identity. Businesses are required to secure this information or risk facing statutory penalties, among other legal penalties. Stolen PII can be used by identity thieves to engage in fraudulent activity using your identity.
The best way to protect yourself after a data breach is to sign up for credit and identity protection services as soon as possible. California offers extra protections and legal rights to its residents through the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”).
