In a report recently issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it was estimated that 1.7 MILLION people sustain a traumatic brain injury every year – with TBI contributing to approximately 30% of all injury-related deaths here in the United States. Stuff the Pig for Breast Cancer

UPDATE: The Arnold Law Firm raised $248 for Albie Aware’s Stuff the Pig Contest. The money will be used to fund testing for men and women in the Sacramento area. Congratulations to the Arnold Law Firm for a job well done! Arnold Law Firm will be participating in Stuff the Pig for Breast Cancer during the entire month of October. The Albie Aware Cancer Foundation, which is supported by Arnold Law Firm, is having a citywide competition with local businesses to earn money for diagnostic testing for the men and women of the Sacramento community. The firm is hosting three collection pigs and hopes to meet the goal of at least $500 in each pig.

Clay Arnold’s Aunt Selected for Outstanding Citizen Award

On March 11, Eleanor Lambert, the aunt of Arnold Law Firms Clay Arnold, received the Sacramento County District Attorneys Outstanding Citizen Award for her testimony in the criminal case People v. Costello & Costello. Lambert was nominated by Bruce Chang for her willingness to assist in the case and facilitate the criminal justice process. The award is bestowed upon those citizens who display exceptional heroism and a readiness to contribute to the welfare of their community. The Outstanding Citizen awards ceremony was held April 11 at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Chambers in the County Administration Building. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation

The Arnold Law Firm is again collecting for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Please start gathering those toys and make it a great Christmas for the needy children in the Sacramento area. The Marines will arrive at the Arnold Law Firm on December 17th to pick up our boxes of toys. Lets make sure we have the boxes filled to overflowing with wonderful toys. Rules: 1. Toy must be new 2. Truck Accident

A 20-year-old man who had been married for just 12 days left home on his way to work. He was driving on Pleasant Grove Road in Sutter County in the early morning when he came upon a slow-moving truck. As he pulled out to pass the truck, the truck driver turned left in front of him. The young man attempted to steer back into his lane but his vehicle struck an un-flagged piece of metal extending from the back of the truck. He died in the resulting crash.

Expert witnesses brought in by the Arnold Law Firm proved that the truck, owned and operated by a hauling firm, should never have been on the highway that morning. Specifically, the rear and side turn signals did not work and the rear-view mirror was in a poor state of adjustment at the time of the collision. As a result, the driver, who had failed to properly inspect the vehicle before setting out that morning, couldn’t see the young man’s vehicle as it attempted to pass.

The poor condition of the truck, its lack of maintenance and the manner in which it was operated were found to be substantial factors in causing the collision that killed the young man. The testimony also established that the man had been making a lawful pass at the lawful speed limit and acted reasonably when he attempted to avoid the collision.

The man’s 20-year-old widow was awarded $3,767,000.77, his parents were awarded $185,131 and the family was reimbursed $11,899 in funeral expenses. Though money is a poor substitute for a young man’s life, this verdict demonstrates that drivers who endanger the lives of others will be held accountable for their actions.
