Davaco Data Breach

On June 11, 2021, Davaco LP (“Davaco”) experienced a data breach where an unauthorized third party gained access to its servers where sensitive employee data was stored. Davaco waited until July 2, 2021 to notify employees that their information was accessed. On July 19, 2021, Davaco reported the incident to the California Attorney General’s office.

In response to the incident, Davaco engaged a cyber-security specialist to identify all affected people. Through investigation, it was determined that over 14,000 employees were affected by this data breach.

WHAT INFORMATION IS INVOLVED?

According to the notice that Davaco sent, the following information was affected:

  • Social Security number
  • First and last name
  • Driver’s license
  • Government issued identification number

This information is called your personal information. It tells others about you and is considered part of your identity. Businesses are required to secure this information or risk facing statutory penalties, among other legal penalties. Stolen personal information can be used by identity thieves to engage in fraudulent activity using your identity. For the best data breach response, it is important to take action quickly.
