Thomas Vasquez was driving home from work after finishing his swing shift as a custodian when his vehicle was struck broadside by a Sacramento County Sheriffs deputy without his lights or siren activated. Mr. Vasquez vehicle was pushed over onto its side and sustained major damage. The deputys vehicle was traveling in excess of 105 mph when it ran a red light and struck Mr. Vasquez vehicle, which was making a legal left turn on a green arrow at the time. As a result of the impact, Mr. Vasquez suffered many injuries, including a brain injury, fractured ribs, injuries to his neck, back and legs, lacerations from broken glass, and bruised internal organs. He was off work completely for several months, is currently working light duty, and is still treating for his injuries.
