Between February 2, 2021 and February 23, 2021, Guess?, Inc. (“Guess”) experienced a data breach where an unauthorized third party gained access to its servers where sensitive personal information was stored. On February 19, 2021, Guess became aware of the data breach and engaged a third party to assist with the investigation. Five months later, on July 2021, Guess reported the incident to the California Attorney General’s office.
At this time, it appears that more than 1,000 Guess employees and contractors were victims of this data breach. Employees typically give employers sensitive information, which hackers target in data breaches. Hackers targeted a subset of employee data in this data breach. Customer information was not involved.
WHAT INFORMATION WAS INVOLVED?
According to the notice that Guess sent, the following information was affected:- First and last names
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
- Passport numbers
- Financial account numbers
