car crashA tragic accident in Grass Valley has killed a 17-year-old teenager. The unidentified teens name has not been released and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Law enforcement officials have provided some details about the crash. The accident occurred on Saturday Feb. 7, when the teens car spun out across Highway 49 near Grass Valley and hit an oncoming car in a head-on collision.

California Highway Patrol officers arrived on the scene shortly after the accident occurred at 7:15 p.m. The teen was driving a Subaru station wagon and the car was near Lime Kiln Road.

When the Subaru spun out, it struck a Lincoln sedan in a broadside manner. Unfortunately, the teen was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only occupant in the Subaru.

In the Lincoln sedan, there were two women and both only sustained minor injuries. In the aftermath of the accident, they were both transported to area hospitals by emergency medical personnel.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the unnamed teenager. Fatal car accidents involving teenagers are heartbreaking for the families and friends who are left behind with no answers to their questions.
