Two Die in Car, Motorcycle Accidents in Elk Grove

two ambulancesElk Grove was a dangerous place for motorists last weekend, as two people died in separate traffic accidents.

The first accident happened on Friday evening, when an SUV rear-ended a Toyota Prius on Laguna Boulevard and caused a seven-car wreck.

The Prius was traveling slowly in stop-and-go traffic when the SUV hit the car at a high speed. The driver of the Prius died in the collision, while the driver of the SUV was injured and taken to the hospital.

The collision damaged five other cars, three of them significantly. Two additional people from those five cars were taken to the hospital to treat injuries.

Motorcyclist Dies on Laguna Park Drive

The second crash happened on Saturday morning, when a motorcyclist was hit by a car on Laguna Park Drive at approximately 11:15 a.m. The motorcycle rider was severely injured and was transported to the hospital, where he died.

The motorcyclist was heading south when he was hit by a car making a left turn into a Taco Bell parking lot. Two bystanders tended to the motorcyclist before emergency personnel arrived at the scene.

The driver of the car and two young passengers were sent to the hospital, but they did not report any injuries.

Police have not made any arrests as they continue their investigation of the fatal crash.
